Winners of the 2017 NAWIC Awards

The National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) recently announced their 2017 Hays NAWIC Excellence Award winners. Winners from Canterbury and Charter signatories are:

Laura Clifford, Hawkins Construction, won the Helen Tippett Award for actively promoting the participation of women in construction. She is described as a quiet, yet powerful contributor and a strong advocate for women in construction.

Emily Sutton of City Care won the Apprentice and Student Award (Trades category) for her outstanding work as an apprentice digger operator. Emily operates diggers all over Christchurch and is studying towards a certificate in Civil Infrastructure – Trades.

Stephanie Cerpa from Contract Construction was highly commended in the Rising Star Award.

Other successful Charter members, but whose winners work outside of Canterbury, were: BECA, Leighs Construction, Fletcher Construction, Fulton Hogan Ltd, Registered Master Builders Association and BCITO.
