Sherry, our new Charter Project Officer, has been on board with us for eight weeks. How is she finding getting stuck into Charter work?
“It’s been an educational, eventful and rewarding eight weeks, reading and fumbling my way through everything I can lay my hands on” she says.
“A highlight so far for me has been attending the HSPNZ Conference in October and a TriEx Psychological First Aid course.”
“The rest of my time has been spent attending meetings and events, being introduced to new passionate Health & Safety groups, networking, planning sessions, and helping facilitate two Safety Charter events – the HSR ‘Mind the Gap’ workshop and the Charter event ‘1 year on’.”
Sherry says she has also used this time to brush up on Charter history and learn how the Charter plays an important role in working with businesses and setting the standards for a collective approach to health and safety on Canterbury work sites.
“I’ve had many successes so far and I’ve prepared myself for an engaged and productive year ahead. I really look forward to meeting more of our signatories in the New Year and value the opportunity to engage and support the wonderful people in the Canterbury region. Merry Christmas!”
