Portal Launch
We will be launching the BIMSafe
NZ Web Portal at the Future of Health and Safety Conference. We
can’t wait to explain more about this exciting tool which will transform the
construction sector’s access to the latest on the integration of health and
safety into BIM Models.
This initiative will deepen the industry’s understanding and
application of BIM throughout the construction process—from design through to
facilities management. The result will be safer construction sites.
The portal is the result of a three-year project conducted by the
Canterbury Safety Charter and the Building Innovation Partnership at the
University of Canterbury.
BIM technology is utilised for all components of a build project’s
design process – architects, engineers, contractors, and workers can assess and
mitigate safety risks in the computer model before, during and after the
construction process. Importantly, it also allows those who are exposed to the
risks to have a say on how they are best mitigated.
Portal users will be able to access specific information tailored
to their individual roles (Client, Designer, Constructor, Operator/Facilities
Manager), and unique needs around BIM and health and safety.
Six key tasks have been defined, based on our research findings,
which apply to both horizontal and vertical construction in New Zealand:
project communication; hazard identification; planning; training and education;
inspection and monitoring; reporting and documentation.
We are looking forward to telling you more and look forward
to your future input.
