BIMSafe Update – March 2024

Welcome to our latest update. 

We have some exciting times ahead with the launch of our  BIMSafe NZ interactive web portal in June. 

I was in Dunedin recently and caught up with the team on the ACC Ōtepoti Building Project which is tracking well – see our latest case study videos below. 

I also had the opportunity to learn about the new Hilti Jaibot at the Dunedin Hospital Outpatients Project site – it’s a pretty amazing machine.

We have an important one-day conference coming up in July, The Future of Health and Safety, with a stellar lineup of speakers. Our team will also showcase our new web portal and demonstrate how the industry can access authentic New Zealand case studies where BIM technology has improved health and safety.

The BIMsafe team were recently in Dunedin filming case study videos for the ACC Otepoti Project, and while we were there, we had the opportunity to pop across the road and visit the new Dunedin Hospital Outpatients Project, currently under construction by Southbase.

On site was the brand-new Hilti Jaibot, one of only 20 in existence, and the third in the southern hemisphere.

We are excited to launch our second video series on the ACC Ōtepoti Building Case Study. This series focuses on the visualisation, communication and collaboration involved in the installation of structural steel, floor, and façade.

A 4D timeline animation of these elements was produced to reduce 1200 lines of sequence down to a 5-minute video. The plant deck construction and maintenance were revisited by the design and construction teams and we also look at the use of Openspace from a project management and safety perspective.

We spoke to the Manager of the Dunedin Branch, Donn Casey about how his organisation has been using BIM.
