Mentoring

HOW DO I FIND A MENTOR?

The Charter supports signatories to mentor other signatories.

This mentoring is free and allows signatories to have an informal discussion allowing the mentor to provide advice and support based on the mentor’s experience to the mentee. If you are from a Charter signatory company, and are seeking some mentoring, please complete the form at the following link and a Charter member will be in touch.

Where do I start?
To be able to offer the appropriate advice, the mentor needs to understand where the mentee is at with health and safety, both personally and their organisation. Therefore a useful place to start is to get them to describe this. To aid this discussion, or as the conversation develops, the mentor may also share both what has gone well and what hasn’t gone well in their own organisation. What hasn’t worked can be as, if not more powerful than what is working.

What can mentees do to help others?
Sharing stories of how companies and individuals have addressed health and safety challenges is powerful. It helps build up the Charter community and shows other companies that they are not alone in the challenges they face. We are planning to develop Charter video case studies. Charter companies have already shared their stories in the Charter newsletter. Mentees can contact the Charter at info@safetycharter.org.nz if they want to share their story and we will be in touch with them regarding how best to do that.
