Safety Charter Update

Safety Charter Update

Hello everyone,

The Canterbury Safety Charter is extremely pleased to announce that our key strategic partner, WorkSafe NZ has provided another full year of key funding; enabling the Charter to achieve its key operational goals for the short and long term future.

Key goals for us this year include the delivery of another full programme of events and resource development being led by our various working groups for the benefit of our members and the wider industry.

Alongside this, the Charter board and Charter management team will continue and their current work on implementing a strategic plan that is intended to insure the Charter promptly evolves into a sustainable working model that is significantly less reliant on one major external funding stream.

We  would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank WorkSafe NZ and its executive for recognising the value of the Canterbury Safety Charter to the Canterbury and New Zealand construction sector. This important funding recognises the value of investing further in the Charters future to achieve a sustainable working model that continues to influence excellent outcomes in New Zealand health and safety performance.

As this newsletter goes to print, the boards recruitment panel have been busy conducting interviews for our temporarily vacant Engagement Partners role. We had several applications for the position and have been interviewing a strong list of candidates with a shortlist being confirmed for further interviews, later this week. Ideally, we hope to make an appointment to this role within the next 3- 4 working weeks.

Keep safe;

Rob Sloan, Safety Charter Chair
