Julie Prutton Update

Nearly 4 months into my role, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet our members and better understand how the Safety Charter can be helping you and your business.

From our origins following the Canterbury earthquakes, our aim was to engage with and educate the rebuild workforce to reduce the incidences of workplace harm. Over that time, the Canterbury region saw a massive amount of construction activity, with no fatalities. We put this down to the collaboration between our members and the Safety Charter working together, striving to adhere to our 10 Charter commitments.

Organisation and individual who join the Safety Charter commits to a process of evaluation and improvement in these areas, with the global intent of promoting good practice and reducing workplace harm. To this day, the 10 commitments are as relevant now as they were back then. You’ll find our 10 commitments below.

Nearly 10 years on, our mission is to provide connection and collaboration in the Safety Charter member community, to improve health and safety performance. Our recent workshops and networking events have been well received, with members getting to know one another better, sharing health and safety stories and expanding on their peer network.

The Safety Charter welcomes feedback on topics of interest you further information on and any other ways we can facilitate connections and growth in our community.

This month we are pleased to be launching our new Safety Charter Facebook page and our closed member peer to peer Facebook support group. The support group is there for our members to engage with each other, ask questions, share experiences, ask for advice and be another way for you to interact with each other on all thing’s health and safety. Please join to be part of our awesome online community.

I look forward to meeting many more of you over the coming months, however if you need any support or wish me to visit your site, please connect with me.

Yours in health and safety.
