Health & safety is no longer something we do, it is who we are.

Formally Maugers Garage Ltd, the company was formed by Warner Mauger in 1953 and as his passion for earthmoving machines grew, so did the company and Maugers Contracting Ltd was formed in 1970.

When Phil Mauger left high school in 1974 he was given 15% of shares in the company and over the next 20 years, 15% increased to 100% ownership with the company growing from 5 to 35 staff.

Maugers Contracting Ltd specialises in developing land and creating subdivisions working alongside companies such as Fulton Hogan, Citycare, Ngai Tahu, Christchurch City Council, Higgins, Hebs Construction, Enterprise Homes to name but a few in the Canterbury area.

Some of Maugers recent adventures have been the earthworks for Waterloo Business Park, Rosemerryn Subdivision Lincoln, Verdeco Park, Wigram Retirement Village, Lyttelton Port Reclamation Project and  Masham Park Subdivision.

Maugers prides itself on having a personal team of competent operators; some who have been with the company for 30+ years. One staff member retired recently after 64 years service within in the Maugers Family group of companies.

One of the key factors to our success is having established great relationships, some spanning many years with our team of highly skilled and competent operators.  With the combination of loyal, experienced staff and modern versatile machinery, we are proud to provide an efficient and finished product of the highest standards.

Since joining the Canterbury Safety Charter in 2018, it has been a pivotal point in bringing Health & Safety to the forefront of our business, taking it from “something we do, to making it who we are”.  The Safety Charter has provided our business with access to great resources and information that is both practical and relevant to our business.
