Long term injuries and illnesses are far more likely than accidents, and these can have significant impact on the lives of many people in a variety of industries, come along to this workshop and learn how a participatory approach can help you prevent injury.
The most common long-term injuries are Musculo-skeletal in nature, and a lot of work has been done recently on effective ways to reduce risk and harm in this area.
This workshop will feature the following two experts;

- Craig Woolhouse – Stratalign leaders in all aspects of lifting, hoisting and material handling.

This workshop is for anyone with an interest in reducing the impact on sprains and strains in your workplace. This is especially important for sub-trades like roofers, plumbers, electricians, and scaffolders who do a lot of work with heavy lifts or awkward body positions.
The Work Should Not Hurt programme has been running for over a year, and is building a wealth of knowledge and information on preventing and managing the number one injury issue for construction – musculoskeletal strains and sprains. Come along and hear Chris Polaczuk talk about what has been learnt and how you can apply the programme to your own workplace.
Stratalign will look at innovative lifting solutions for hoisting & material handling, they will demonstrate how the right equipment and strategies can not only significantly reduce long-term musculoskeletal injuries in workplaces, but also enhance productivity though custom lifting solutions. Participants will learn practical methods to optimise job site safety and mitigate physical strains common to industries requiring heavy lifts or working in awkward positions.

Chris Polaczuk
Chris trained as an Occupational Therapist and eventually morphed into an Ergonomist in later life. He’s spent his career either treating people with work related injury and illness or trying to devise ways to prevent the problems in the workplace. His background includes injury prevention in the agriculture and health sectors and he has now found a home in a very needy construction industry.
Craig Woolhouse
Craig has over 28 years of experience in Solution Selling, Sales and Business Development and Management, with extensive industry knowledge in Manufacturing, Logistics, and IT Infrastructure (in both New Zealand and Australia).
