The Safety Charter warmly invites you to take a guided tour of Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre with Gigeesh Joseph, Senior Health and Safety Advisor, CPB Contractors.

When completed Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre (previously known as Christchurch Metro Sports Facility) will be the largest aquatic and indoor recreation and leisure venue of its kind in New Zealand, accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre will provide facilities catering for the day-to-day needs of the leisure, sporting, recreational, educational and high-performance sporting communities in Canterbury.

Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre will cater to local and international events, and includes a swim leisure area, nine indoor netball and basketball courts, a show court with retractable seating for 2,500 spectators and a 10-lane competition pool includes seating for 1,000 spectators.


Site Requirements:  PPE MUST BE WORN and includes, Hard hat, hi-vis reflective long sleeve shirt or vest, long pants, ankle high safety boots and safety glasses.

To meet at:  CPB Site Foyer, 20 Stewart Street, Christchurch.

Time: 3pm – 4.30pm includes site induction.

The Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre Tour is free to participate.

We encourage you to take up this opportunity to join the Safety Charter and CPB Contractors to learn about the rigorous health and safety systems as they construct New Zealand’s largest Aquatic & Indoor Recreation & Leisure Facility.
