We are delighted to welcome to Blair Collie from RCP, and Pete Lockhart from Naylor Love Construction, who have recently joined our BIMSafe Advisory Group team. We look forward to their input on the Project. Learn a little more about them below.
Pete Lockhart – Naylor Love Construction
Pete Lockhart started as an apprentice carpenter in 1982, working in Otago. He joined Naylor Love as a cadet in 1990, and progressed through the company as a Project Manager, Operations Manager and Regional Manager before becoming the National Construction Manager.
He has seen big changes in the professionalism of the construction industry, and the need for more specialist roles.
In terms of health and Safety he has noted the increased awareness and understanding at the Director level of organisations, and also the importance of the bottom-up approach of engaging with workers to fully understand work processes and devise safe work practices.
Blair Collie – RCP
After leaving Southland and moving to Dunedin to study Architectural Draughting in 2001, Blair worked for a small Dunedin based architectural practice (MCD CAD Consultancy) who were also the local Autodesk reseller, this allowed Blair to use the most up to date software and enter into the 3D modelling environment at an early stage.
After 4 years Blair moved on to a Structural engineering practice (Heenan Consulting) which further grew his knowledge within the industry. After 6 years he moved onto a Design Management role at a national Design & Build company Calder Stewart where he moved the company from a 2D draughting method to a 3D modelling approach. Calder Stewart have their own structural steel / precast concrete fabrication, reinforcing bending etc. So being able to model the design elements by getting direct feedback from the construction team and knowing exactly how they wanted it fabricated / built, made for a very efficient process. Over Blair’s 8 years at Calder Stewart, he was involved in a wide range of Commercial, Industrial, Rural and Community projects. Blair’s current role as client-side project manager for RCP started when managing the demolition of the Cadbury Factory to make way for the New Dunedin Hospital and is now looking after the new Ngai Tahu Property / ACC Development in Dunedin
