Building Te Kaha – Canterbury’s multi-use arena
The Safety Charter was pleased to host an event for BESIX Watpac around the construction of the new Christchurch stadium. The Health and Safety Manager for New Zealand, Jimmy Anderson, spoke at length about the health, safety, and wellbeing practices of the company and how these would apply on site.
He took us through what a safe day looks like, and how HSR’s are critical pieces of the health and safety framework. The Te Kaha project manager, Brian Hayes then took us through some of the safe work methodologies the company has devised for some of the high-risk work around installing the walls and roof of the structure. BIM modelling has been utilised for visualisation of some of the temporary works required, which highlighted the communication capability of the models.
The Safety Charter would like to thank Dave Park, Project Safety Coordinator for his work in coordinating this event. The Safety Charter hope to provide some stadium events as the construction proceeds.
