It has been five years since the introduction of the Health and Safety at Work Act following the Pike River disaster. In this workshop we will look at what changes have occurred in that time, how the courts have interpreted the legislation, and what major developments have happened in health and safety since then.

  • Kevin Lampen-Smith, General Manager, External Strategy & Engagement, WorkSafe NZ will provide an overview of ‘the big picture’
  • Geraldine Biggs, Corcoran French Lawyers on precedents and implications for directors, managers, H&S representatives and the worker. How has the court interpreted the act? 
  • Business owner Pat Coughlan, Coughlan Construction will share this story on changes that have occurred and what the impact has been on his business.
  • Tina Cameron, Antarctic NZ. Has the legislation empowered health and safety representatives.
  • This workshop will also include an opportunity to ask questions.

Breakfast workshop. Plenty of off-street parking.
