The New Zealand Construction Industry has one of the highest rates of accident and injury.  Construction accounts for 10% of the workforce and 17% of ACC claims at an annual cost of $138 million.

BIMSafe NZ is a three-year, $1.7m collaboration between the building industry and government and aims to reduce accident and injury rates in New Zealand through greater understanding, communication and mitigation of risk.

The BIMSafe NZ Project is being delivered by a collaboration between the Canterbury Safety Charter's Professional Services Working Group (PSWG)  and the University of Canterbury's Building Innovation Partnership (BIP)

The project is Governed by a Steering Group, comprising of Chris Alderson (CEO CHASNZ), Lindsay Crossen (Chair BIP), and Ian Campbell (Chair CSC).

The BIMSafe NZ Advisory Group consists of members of the PSWG, BIP,  and other industry professionals. The Advisory Group provides guidance and support to the management team.

The three workstreams each have Advisory Leads, in addition to technical support, a fulltime Research Associate, and a Post Doctoral Fellow
